There is no way around hard work.

Through the collaboration with JL’s Tennis Academy, headed up by Mr John-Laffnie de Jager, a former doubles specialist, Davis Cup captain and Federation Cup captain, tennis at Midstream College has moved up a level. Many of our players have achieved top rankings, both in South Africa and internationally.

The head coach, Mr Denton Meintjies, is renowned for achieving excellent results with his players. 2019 saw the Midstream College tennis teams perform exceptionally well in the league matches. Our junior boys won the A and the B leagues. Tennis is played throughout the year and we cater for players of all skill levels, ranging from beginners and social players, to elite provincial and international players.

League matches are played during the first and second term of the year, while the College championships take place in the fourth term. We enter approximately eight teams per year to compete in the Gauteng North School’s League. We also send players on tour to Ermelo in May, Bethlehem in September and to the Western Cape in October to compete in school tournaments. Numerous fun events are also arranged throughout the year to encourage participation and enthusiasm for the sport.

Midstream College in conjunction with JL’s Tennis Academy strive to put the interests of our players first.
