A word from our Headmaster Dr. Carel Kriek

Odyssey is a Greek epic poem written by Homer about the long journey of a man named Odysseus. Opendictionary.com describes an Odyssey as an extended adventurous voyage or trip or an intellectual or spiritual quest. Next Thursday our grade 10 group will embark on Midstream College’s fifth Odyssey. My wish for every learner and teacher is that they will conquer every physical, intellectual and spiritual challenge or quest thrown at them during the journey. Go and summit the Iron Crown, as well as your own personal obstacles and mountains preventing you from being the best you that you can be. The matrics started their prelims last Saturday. All of the best to each of you who will be facing two big academic mountains during the next three months. I believe that, like the grade 10s, you will be able to look back and echo the Latin phrase: Veni vidi vici – you came, you saw, and you conquered. Enjoy your extended academic Odyssey, as well as your last few months at school. With spring in the air, my wish for every learner, parent and teacher is to embrace opportunities coming your way to make Midstream College and our beloved South Africa a better place to live in.
